India and Pakistan exchanged letters to commit to building the necessary infrastructure for Sikh pilgrims to travel directly without a visa to the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara of Pakistan, allowing them to celebrate the 550th anniversary of the birth of Guru Nanak Dev in November 2019.
The Pakistani minister described the measure as the “victory of the pressure groups for peace” in both countries. Officials from both countries will meet soon to discuss the logistics of the corridor and the border crossing point where the roads, which pilgrims from the Indian side will take from Dera Guru Nanak Dev in the Gurdaspur district, will lead directly to the border. and from the Pakistani side of the border directly to the Kartarpur Darbar Sahib Gurdwara.
