India, Russia deal to build 2 warships in Goa Shipyard Limited

The Goa Shipyard Limited and the Russian Rosoboronexport signed the agreement for the frigates ‘Project 11356’ of the Grigorovich class with technology transfer from Russia.

The construction of warships will start in 2020 and the first will be delivered in 2026, while the second will be ready by 2027.

India signed an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Russia for the four frigates in 2016. The Indian Navy currently operates six hidden frigates, three of the Talwar class and three of the Teg class, purchased from Russia and installed between 2003 and 2013.
